PNGO warns of the dangerous consequences of Gaza crossing closure

Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) strongly condemns the ongoing repression carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which the decisions to close the only commercial crossing with the besieged Gaza Strip "Karm Abu Salem", ban the entry of the basic needs of the Gaza Strip population including food and fuel and reduce the fishing zone to only 3 nautical miles.

PNGO affirms these decisions are a flagrant violation of all international conventions and treaties including the international humanitarian law.

PNGO warns of the serious repercussions of these decision on the already deteriorated humanitarian, economic and social conditions in the Gaza Strip resulted by the ongoing Israeli occupation's blockade.

It should be noted that the rates of poverty, unemployment and food insecurity in the Gaza Strip reached unprecedented levels. Moreover, the reconstruction process has stopped and funding to UNRWA and other humanitarian aid organizations has been greatly reduced, the impact of which severely affected the population of the Gaza Strip.

PNGO calls upon all international bodies to exercise serious and effective pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop their violations against our people and lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip and open the crossings for the movement of goods and individuals in both directions.

PNGO stresses that the Palestinian parties should end the political division and achieve national unity as a basis to strengthen the resilience of our people in the face of the Israeli occupation and its violations and plans, including the so-called ''Deal of the Century'‘, which aim at undermining the rights of our people.
