Women's Affairs Center in Gaza (WAC) concluded a tweeting session with the hash tag "#She_Leads" which is carried out within the framework of "Let's Not Count Women… Let's Make Women Count" project, funded by Kvinna till Kvinna Organization, Sweden. Thirty-five male and female tweeters and social media activists from Gaza took part in the session.

Reem Al Nairab, Project Coordinator at WAC said, "The tweeting session aimed to support young women's rights, mainly right to active political participation; increase women's representation at decision making positions; and raise awareness of the Palestinian society on the importance of engaging women in these positions."

Al Nairab also pointed out that women in general are able to assume political, leadership, and administrative positions in the society as they are an essential cornerstone for the advancement of the status of Palestinian women as well as the efforts towards enacting laws and policies to activate their participation in the political work.

The Center stresses on the importance of using and employing the most popular social media networks, like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to serve and support advocacy campaigns and raise local awareness in general on different issues, as well as enhance the role of new media in supporting women's issues since it can play a major role in raising awareness and improving women's opportunities for leadership and active participation.

The session included several tweets, such as: "The Palestinian woman is one of her kind; she struggles for her national cause and fights for her homeland, she would even die for it", "You don't belong at home; you are a leader and an influential person; and your society needs you", and "The Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing 1995) recognized the need for women to participate in decision-making and political positions".
