PNGO Condemns the Israeli occupation decisions and calls for immediate International Intervention

The Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) condemns the Israeli occupation’s decision to tighten the siege on the Gaza Strip and prevent the entry of building materials, supplies, and fuel, as well as limiting the fishing zone.

In this sense, PNGO points to the deteriorating economic, humanitarian, and social conditions existing in the Gaza Strip due to the unprecedentedly high rates of poverty, unemployment, and food insecurity. The measures taken to face the COVID-19 pandemic have affected the different sectors in the most adverse way possible and created complications for all of the mentioned problems.

Moreover, PNGO warns of the serious repercussions of these Israeli decisions, which aim to worsen the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. The terrible situation Gazans live in is faced with international silence; therefore, more than two million Palestinians live in anguish, most of whom are children and women.

PNGO states that these Israeli decisions are a flagrant violation of all international conventions and treaties, including the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Consequently, PNGO calls on the international community for an urgent intervention to lift fully the Israeli siege and open the only commercial crossing for the Gaza Strip. Allowing the entry of supplies and other Gazans' needs alongside with exporting goods freely is a must as well.

Finally, PNGO calls on all Palestinian parties to end the political division in a way that strengthens the resilience of Palestinians in the face of the aggressions and unjust siege of the Israeli occupation.
