PNGO Women's Sector Field Tour: Demanding Support with Basic Needs to affected Families

PNGO's women's sector demanded a serious and urgent response to the needs of the affected families during the last aggression on Gaza, especially those who lost their homes and now reside with their relatives. The immediate intervention is set to alleviate their misery that escalates noticeably in the light of COVID pandemic conditions.

This came during the women’s sector field tour with NGO representatives to several areas in the Gaza Strip, specifically Gaza and the North cities.

The participants necessitated on giving the highest priority to delivering decent shelter and security for people in these areas along with humanitarian and medical assistance. The tour started from Al Wehda Street, where several houses were bombed with their residents inside, before visiting some shops that were damaged by the destruction of the surrounding houses.

The tour also included the Sheikh Zayed City area in North Gaza, where an entire residential square was targeted with bombs. Houses and residential buildings were bombarded with residents inside, leaving nothing but more victims and martyrs.

In the same context, the participants emphasized that the aim of this tour is to show solidarity with the people who lost their homes and jobs.  It is also representing a tool for sharing messages and information to the international community about our situation and the problems we face after the end of the aggression.

Adding to that, they stressed the need for providing women with protection and support to face the post-aggression negative effects, keeping in mind the spread of COVID-19 and the necessity to adhere to protective measures that require the presence of sanitizers, disinfectants and masks.

At the end of the tour, the participants visited Zina institution in Om al-Nasr area, known as Al-Qaraya al-Badawiya. The participants talked with the women about their situation after the recent bombing of the area. There were about 30 women breadwinners for their families work in Zina Institution and residents of the village, especially those who lost their family members or their homes were destroyed.

The participants stressed the need for all parties to assume their responsibility to give a helping hand to these families displaced by the aggression. Organizations need to initiate psychological support programs for children and women, to accelerate the reconstruction of the homes and facilities destroyed by the Israeli occupation, as well as to work on holding the Israeli occupation accountable for the crimes committed against Palestinians.

Finally, they saluted the women of the Gaza Strip who shaped the most wonderful and beautiful images of steadfastness in the face of the Israeli aggression and its difficult and continuing repercussions on various life aspects.
