The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) warns of the intensification of the humanitarian catastrophe implications in the Gaza Strip in light of the escalation of the Israeli aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip, and the increasing restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on the entry of humanitarian aid.
PNGO confirms that there has been a significant decrease in the number of aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip in July, nearly sixty percent less compared to last April before the Israeli occupation troops invaded Rafah and closed the Rafah crossing. Even before the closure, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip was dire, with no more than two hundred trucks allowed entry.
PNGO points out that at a time when the percentage of displaced people has exceeded ninety percent and the entire population dependent on humanitarian aid, the repercussions of the humanitarian catastrophe are intensifying at all levels. Basic necessities are being systematically destroyed while the Israeli occupation continues to impose further restrictions on humanitarian aid.
PNGO also notes the rapid spread of famine, thirst, epidemics and diseases, especially among children and women. The conditions of patients and the wounded are deteriorating due to the closure of the Rafah crossing, threatening their lives. Additionally, the Israeli occupation has prevented the entry of many types of foodstuffs, particularly vegetables and proteins, into Gaza and the north.
PNGO confirms that the Israeli occupation has also been preventing the entry of personal hygiene materials for weeks. The acute shortage of drinking water and water for daily use, combined with the accumulation of waste and sewage and high temperatures, is exacerbating health conditions and threatening lives.
PNGO stresses that the occupation aims to threaten the lives of all citizens and deepen and perpetuate the humanitarian crisis for a long time. PNGO holds the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the repercussions of the aggression and siege on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes against humanity.
PNGO calls on all international parties to take urgent and serious action to stop the Israeli aggression and open the crossings for the entry of aid. PNGO also urges the expedited entry of specialized medical teams to support hospital staff, as well as the entry of medical devices, medicines, and equipment. Immediate action is needed to transfer patients and the wounded out of the Gaza Strip for treatment.
PNGO stresses that every moment that passes in the Gaza Strip exacerbates the suffering amid the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
