The Palestinian NGOs Network issued an appeal to all sectors of our steadfast Palestinian people, including political forces, clans, families, private sector institutions, organizations, commission, unions and personalities, in order to protect the aid that reaches the Gaza Strip and not to tolerate the repeated attacks by some individuals and groups. Such attacks deprived several times the safe access to assistance by our people who suffers the scourge of aggression, siege and starvation imposed by the Israeli occupation forces.
The undersigned NGOs held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the serious repercussions on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, threatening the lives of the population, spreading security chaos, striking the capabilities of the Gaza Strip and the police, exaggerating the deteriorating humanitarian situation, and using famine as one of the tools of war by targeting members of the civilian police assigned to guard aid, thus undermining their ability to protect it and secure its access to those who deserve it.
The appeal which was signed by more than ninety Palestinian NGOs, stressed that the international community bears responsibility for failing to pressure the Israeli occupation and force it to open all crossings to allow the entry of aid in various forms, which contributes to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in clear violation of the responsibility of “third parties” to assume their legal and moral responsibilities.
The appeal stressed that the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on the entry of humanitarian aid and private sector goods into the Gaza Strip have exacerbated the conditions of famine and malnutrition.
The appeal and the signatures of NGOs are as follows:
A call to all sectors of our steadfast Palestinian people, including political forces, clans, families, private sector institutions, organizations, bodies, unions and personalities.
In light of the intensification of the repercussions of the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe that our Palestinian people are experiencing in the Gaza Strip as a result of the crime of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation for more than a year, which has begun to take a more dangerous turn in light of what is happening in the northern Gaza Strip with the campaign of ethnic cleansing, forced evictions and systematic destruction with the suspension of food, medicine and water supplies to various areas of the Gaza Strip, especially to the northern Gaza Strip.
The restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation on the entry of humanitarian aid and private sector goods into the Gaza Strip have exacerbated the situation of famine and malnutrition, and while some individuals and groups stopping and looting some aid trucks, which exacerbates the humanitarian and health conditions, threatening the lives of many children, women and the elderly in particular, who depend mainly on this aid.
We, the NGOs that signed this appeal, affirm the following:
-
The Israeli occupation bears full responsibility for the serious repercussions on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, threatening the lives of the population, spreading security chaos, striking the capabilities of the Gaza Strip and the police, exaggerating the deteriorating humanitarian situation, and using famine as one of the tools of war by targeting the civilian police members tasked with guarding aid, thus undermining their ability to protect it and ensure its delivery to those who deserve it.
-
The international community bears responsibility for failing to pressure the Israeli occupation and force it to open all crossings to allow the entry of aid in various forms, which contributes to the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in clear violation of the responsibility of “third parties” to assume their legal and moral responsibilities.
-
Protecting the aid that reaches the Gaza Strip and not tolerating the repeated attacks on that aid by some individuals and groups, which deprives our people several times of safe access to such assistance while suffers the scourge of aggression, siege and starvation imposed by the Israeli occupation forces.
The Palestinian NGOs call on all sectors of our people to intensify efforts to stop the looting of humanitarian aid and the deprivation of children, women, the sick and the wounded of such assistance at a time when the humanitarian catastrophe is intensifying. Looting of aid, its sale and the monopolization of goods and merchandise constitute a departure from the values of our people and our humanitarian principles, foremost of which are solidarity and mutual support.
NGOs also call on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in order to put serious pressure on the Israeli occupation to open the crossings and bring all forms of aid into the Gaza Strip, especially in the northern Gaza Strip.
