Statement by the Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO) – Israeli occupation's targeting of ‎international institutions is a continuation of war crimes and ongoing violations of ‎international law

The Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) strongly condemns the recent Israeli occupation ‎attack against United Nations personnel and expresses its deepest concern over the ‎escalating targeting of humanitarian workers, civilians, and protected individuals. This ‎attack is not an isolated incident but part of a broader, systematic pattern of violations by ‎the Israeli occupation against international humanitarian law (IHL) and international law, ‎including the targeting of workers in international and humanitarian institutions.‎

The occupying power is exploiting the international silence regarding these violations, ‎along with its culture of impunity, to expand and escalate its aggression and crimes against ‎civilians, humanitarian workers, and protected persons. PNGO believes that these actions ‎directly undermine humanitarian principles, the sanctity of life, and the integrity of ‎international law. They represent a blatant obstruction of the ability of humanitarian ‎organizations to carry out their vital work of providing relief and protection to vulnerable ‎defenseless civilians, including women, the elderly, and children.‎

In this regard, PNGO warns that the international community's failure to hold the Israeli ‎occupation accountable for its repeated violations that has emboldened it to commit ‎further atrocities. The targeting of humanitarian workers and NGOs must be seen as part of ‎a larger strategy to dismantle the infrastructure of humanitarian aid and silence voices of ‎justice and accountability.  It also falls within the framework of attempts to end the work of ‎the international system and circumvent humanitarian justice.‎

PNGO calls on the international community, including the United Nations, the ‎International Criminal Court, and all relevant bodies, to take immediate and decisive ‎action to ensure accountability for these crimes. The Israeli occupation government and ‎officials must be held responsible for their role in perpetrating and committing the worst ‎atrocities against protected individuals, including civilians and humanitarian workers, ‎especially what happened yesterday’s attack targeting UN workers, which led to the death ‎of one of them, and the injury  of a number of others in light of the escalation of the bloody ‎aggression on the Gaza Strip, which led to the death and injury of hundreds as well.‎
The international community must take immediate, concrete measures to uphold ‎international law, end Israel’s impunity, and ensure justice for the victims of these grave ‎crimes. Silence and inaction will only embolden further atrocities.‎

It is time for serious and tangible international will to ensure that perpetrators are ‎punished and that they do not escape punishment. ‎
