The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network warns of the grave humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, as a month and a half has passed since the complete closure of crossings and the total blockade on entry of humanitarian assistance.
PNGO confirms the spread of famine in Gaza, with increasing cases of malnutrition, particularly among children and women, amid the absence of most food items and essential supplements for children and patients.
The network highlights the severe collapse of the healthcare system due to direct targeting by Israeli occupation forces and the depletion of medicines and medical supplies, including those for chronic illnesses, threatening the lives of thousands of wounded and sick individuals.
PNGO also points to the worsening health disaster caused by a lack of clean water for drinking and domestic use, sewage water is flooding residential areas, and the accumulation of more than 600,000 tons of solid waste across the Strip, in the absence of cleaning supplies and essential hygiene materials.
PNGO notes the continued forced displacement of over 90% of Gaza’s population and the evacuation of two-thirds of the territory, under challenging and complex humanitarian conditions, with a lack of basic shelter items such as tents, blankets, clothing, and other essentials, particularly for children and women.
PNGO affirms that Gaza is undergoing one of the most horrific forms of aggression, including continuous bombardment, targeting of civilians, systematic destruction of infrastructure, and the erasure of entire families from the civil registry.
It strongly condemns Israeli occupation attempts to impose plans aimed at controlling humanitarian aid and its distribution mechanisms, including the militarization of aid, a blatant violation of international conventions, treaties, and the core principles of humanitarian work.
PNGO welcomes the statements made by the United Nations Secretary-General rejecting any distribution mechanisms led by the Israeli military that violate humanitarian principles.
It expresses deep concern over the continued international silence in the face of the genocide being committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians, including mass killing, destruction, and unprecedented siege.
PNGO calls for urgent and immediate international intervention to stop the Israeli aggression, lift the blockade, and ensure the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza Strip. It further calls for accountability for Israel’s war crimes and demands a complete halt to all forms of arms transfers to the occupying state.
PNGO urges all international actors to reject the Israeli occupation plans to control the humanitarian aid distribution process, as such plans pose a serious threat to the humanitarian situation in Gaza. It calls for concerted international pressure on the Israel occupation to open the crossings and allow all forms of humanitarian assistance to reach those in need, through Palestinian and international organizations.
Finally, PNGO emphasizes that the children of Gaza are the most targeted group by Israeli aggression, making up the largest portion of victims and suffering severely from the escalating humanitarian crisis on all levels.
