The Health Sector in PNGO Condemns the Crime of Assault and Robbery on the Field Hospital in Al-Zawaida

The health sector within the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) condemns the attack and robbery carried out by a group of armed criminals against the "American" field hospital, managed by the International Medical Corps (IMC), in the early hours of today in Al-Zawaida, central Gaza Strip. The assailants broke into the hospital’s storage and stole medical equipment and supplies.

PNGO health sector highlights that, in a dangerous and unprecedented incident, a group of armed individuals stormed the field hospital’s warehouses, looting large quantities of medical equipment, supplies, medicines, and nutritional supplements intended for malnourished children.

PNGO health sector emphasizes that this crime, which violates the traditions and values of our people, comes at a time when the Palestinian people are facing a genocide committed by the Israeli occupation - through killings, starvation, and deprivation of life’s basic necessities.

PNGO health sector notes that most hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been rendered non-functional due to the Israeli occupation bombardment and the blockade preventing the entry of medicines and medical supplies at a time when the health and humanitarian conditions worsen, threatening the lives of tens of thousands of patients and wounded.

It calls on all segments of our society to confront these rogue gangs that operate outside the ranks of our people, serving the occupation and its schemes, and to work toward addressing the dangerous repercussions of these crimes on Gaza’s deteriorating humanitarian situation.

The sector further stresses that the Israeli occupation, through its intensified three-month siege and its targeting of the rule of law, seeks to perpetuate chaos and undermine the foundations of life.

PNGO Health Sector urges all international parties to pressure the Israeli occupation to open crossings and allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
