The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) condemns in the strongest terms the unprecedented and shocking decision by the US administration to impose sanctions on three leading Palestinian human rights organizations: Al-Haq Organization, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), and Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.
This unjust decision is a direct result of these institutions' professional and dedicated work in documenting and exposing the genocide crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, and their tireless struggle to achieve justice and accountability through international judicial and human rights bodies, foremost the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
PNGO considers this American decision to be nothing but a blatant attempt to silence the free voices that expose the war and occupation machine and uncover its ongoing crimes.
It affirms that targeting these institutions is a new link in an escalating chain of an organized attack on Palestinian civil society and the Palestinian rights movement, which began with Trump's designation of the "Prisoners and Human Rights" organization Addameer as "terrorist," and is now being continued by the current administration using the same approach. This confirms that the policy of persecution and repression has become a fixed policy that transcends successive US administrations.
PNGO indicates that this decision is part of a broader pattern aimed at promoting a culture of impunity to protect the Israeli occupation from being held accountable under international law. It is a blatant undermining of the foundations of international law and international human rights law, which the US administration is supposed to respect and defend, not be an instrument for its dismantling.
PNGGO calls on the international community, the United Nations, and all organizations and free people around the world to shoulder their legal and moral responsibilities in the face of this fierce assault on the freedom of human rights and humanitarian work. It demands they apply serious pressure on the US administration to revoke this illegal decision and withdraw all lists of designations and unjust persecution targeting Palestinian institutions and defenders.
Furthermore, PNGO demands urgent action be taken to put an end to the war crimes and genocide in Gaza, which are funded by American weapons and protected by the American veto.
It calls for supporting and empowering Palestinian human rights institutions as an essential partner in defending the rights of our people and upholding international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of justice and human rights.
