The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) expresses its strong disapproval of the actions of a limited number of international non-governmental organizations that have shared information relating to their local staff under pressure from the Israeli occupation as a condition for organizational registration.
PNGO underscores the grave risks inherent in this measure, which constitutes a clear violation of the principles of international humanitarian law and established humanitarian work standards, and runs counter to the collective position traditionally upheld by international organizations. Compliance with such occupation-imposed demands represents acquiescence to coercive pressure and poses a direct threat to the safety and security of local staff.
PNGO reaffirms the critical role played by international non-governmental organizations in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, as well as their essential human rights work in exposing violations committed by the occupation and defending fundamental human rights.
The Network calls for the strengthening of a unified stance rejecting these transgressions and the unlawful conditions imposed by the occupying power, and urges international organizations to refrain from sharing any information regarding their staff with the Israeli occupation.
PNGO further calls upon international actors, in particular donor states, to exert meaningful pressure on the occupying power to rescind registration procedures that jeopardize the safety of these organizations and their employees, and to ensure their ability to operate independently, maintain the continuity of their services, and carry out their vital role in the field of human rights.
