PNGO calls to speed up achieving agreement over mechanism to operate Rafah border crossing

Palestinian NGO's Network (PNGO) called upon the Palestinian parties to exert tremendous efforts and accelerate the achievement of the agreement over mechanism to operate the Egypt-Palestinian Rafah border crossing.

PNGO noted that the involved parties have to neutralize people's interests and needs from the internal political disputes, in the light of the unprecedented and rapid deterioration of the situation at the various economic, social, health and humanitarian levels.

The Palestinian NGO's Network said that "it strongly welcomes the factions' initiative to open the crossing" and it called upon Hamas movement to respond positively to this initiative and involve itself in developing its mechanisms.

PNGO stressed the necessity for the Palestinian government of national consensus to take over its functions and responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.

It called to enable the government to perform its functions and remove any restrictions and requirements before the national consensus government takeover of its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian NGO's Network held the Israeli occupation full responsible for the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip; however, it emphasized that the internal political division significantly contribute to the worsening of the situation on the ground; a situation which requires serious and sincere action to bring the crisis of Rafah crossing to an end.
