Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: These positions are located in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), office in the occupied Palestinian territory, Gaza sub-office. | |
Description of Responsibilities: | |
Under the guidance and supervision of the head of Gaza sub-office or his/her designate the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of all activities related to OHCHR oPt programme for human rights promotion and protection. The incumbent will be primarily responsible to:

Competencies : | |
PROFESSIONALISM: Knowledge of human rights issues and ability to identify related problems in their political, ethnic, racial, gender equality and socio-economic dimensions. Knowledge of institutional mandates of human rights organizations, prevailing policies and procedures. Research and analytical skills, including ability to identify and participate in the resolution of human rights issues. Ability to identify sources for data collection, research and analyze information and draft human rights reports. Ability to evaluate and integrate information from a variety of sources and assess impact on the human rights situation in the area of assignment. Qualifications : | |
Education: Advanced University degree preferably in law, political science, international relations or other disciplines related to human rights. Experience: Proven experience and knowledge of international human rights standards and mechanisms. Five years of progressively responsible related work experience (international human rights law and humanitarian law, documenting human rights developments, human rights education and training, humanitarian coordination) Languages: Excellent Arabic and English (written and spoken). |
