Sociologist or Psychologist

The Palestine Children's Relief Fund is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonreligious humanitarian relief organization, established in 1992 to arrange medical care for sick and injured Palestinian children who could not be treated in their homeland. Since our founding, we have expanded and grown into one of the main relief organizations in the Middle East, helping thousands of children each year get the care and support they need to live better lives.

PCRF is currently looking to recruit two part-time positions: One Social Worker / Sociologist and One Psychologist in Gaza City.

Program/ Unit: Operations - Mental Health Program 

Reporting Line: Mental Health Project Coordinator and Gaza Area Manager

Location: Gaza Strip 

Position Type: Consultancy Agreement - Part-Time Positions

Sociologist - Social Worker

  1. Home visits for children, follow-up with parents.
  2. School visits to monitor the child’s progress.
  3. Address the needs of each child individually.
  4. Report on the child's needs to the psychologist, psychiatrist, and PCRF Project Coordinator, based on the child’s specific and individual needs.
  5. Monitor the treatment process prescribed by psychiatrist and supervisor and report to the Project Coordinator on progress.
  6. Submit a monthly report.
  7. Any other work of relevance to the above services, as may be requested by PCRF from time to time.

Psychologist

  1. Initial consultation of the child and parents and prepare a plan for intervention.
  2. Provide consultation and psychological intervention as needed and prepare the initial plan.
  3. Provide individual therapy sessions.
  4. Provide reports to the project coordinator on the child and families progress on a monthly basis.
  5. Any other work of relevance to the above services, as may be requested by PCRF from time to time.

Requirements:

Minimum Skill Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Social Workor relevant experience. 
  • A BA degree in Psychology/ Social studies or a comparable degree.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Fluent in Arabic and very good English language command.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.

  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Professional communication with co-workers, supervisors, and beneficiaries.
