Women’s Affairs Center (WAC) is an independent and non-profit Palestinian NGO with the purpose of advocating women’s human rights and gender equality through Empowering Women, Information and Research, and Advocacy and Outreach programs. While implementing its strategy to fulfil its vision, WAC is guided by international human rights principles including empowerment and participation; equality and non-discrimination; and accountability to ensure justice and dignity for women. 

With funding from Dan Church Aid and Norwegian Church Aid (DCA/NCA )Palestine Joint Country program and in Cooperation with Women’s Affairs Center (WAC) starting from June 1st 2022 until 31 of December 2022 WAC will be implementing a plastic waste Management project under the title "Empowering Women and Social Entrepreneurs to Combat for Negative Impacts of Climate by Establishing an Innovative Business of Plastic Recycling in the Gaza Strip." DCA\NCA and WAC will implement a gender responsive project to tackle plastic waste problems by empowering women against the negative effects of Climate, while enhancing vulnerable women’s economic coping capacity via receiving cash from the recycling of plastic to cover their basic needs.  

WAC is seeking a Field Coordinator to work within a plastic waste Management project funded by the DCA/NCA as follows: Field Coordinator

Vacant Position: Field Coordinator – (Full-time)

Location: Gaza Strip

Contract Duration: 7 Months (including 3 months’ probationary period)

Expected Starting date: ASAP

  1. She/he will be reporting directly to Project Coordinator.
  2. Field coordinator responsibilities:
  3. Follow-up the daily progress of the Plastic Waste Management project activities. 
  4. Supervise the project daily site activities to ensure adequate quality and progress.
  5. Conduct sound coordination, implementation, and monitoring of field work activities of the project.
  6. Define work processes for all the project planned interventions and provide analyses of the collected data.
  7. Implement awareness sessions on plastic waste management and the negative effects on climate change for the targeted beneficiaries.
  8. Tracking the value chain of the plastic waste management process.
  9. Coordinate with the project coordinator to ensure a cohesive and sound program approach. 
  10. Provide detailed updates to project coordinator or other stakeholders.
  11. Ensure relevant organizations, partners CBO’s and local communities in the area have the supplies and resources they need to complete their assigned tasks on time and within their budget limits.
  12. Assist the project’s coordinator with reports, invoices, contracts, and other documents for easy access.
  13. Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements:

  1. University Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or any related fields.
  2. Minimum of 3 years field working experience in similar positions and/or in similar sector.
  3. Strong knowledge of environmental issues and prior experience working in plastic waste/recycling, or any related project is an asset.
  4. Ability to organize work and implement activities with high-level standards, and proven track record in producing quality work.
  5. Demonstrated capacity of teamwork and of coordination with all partners and stakeholders.
  6. Excellent inter-personal and writing communication skills;’
  7. Fluency in written and spoken English.
  8. High knowledge of computer language.
  9. Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; ability to verbally express ideas assertively, clearly, as well as, to prepare reports, project plans, and presentations.
  10. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively and independently under pressure with minimal direction.
