Women’s Affairs Center (WAC) is an independent and non-profit Palestinian NGO with the purpose of advocating women’s human rights and gender equality through Empowering Women, Information and Research, and Advocacy and Outreach programs. While implementing its strategy to fulfil its vision, WAC is guided by international human rights principles including empowerment and participation; equality and non-discrimination; and accountability to ensure justice and dignity for women. 

With funding from Dan Church Aid and Norwegian Church Aid (DCA/NCA )Palestine Joint Country program and in Cooperation with Women’s Affairs Center (WAC)  WAC will be implementing a solid waste Management project under the title "Empowering Women and Social Entrepreneurs to Combat for Negative Impacts of Climate by Establishing an Innovative Business of solid Recycling in the Gaza Strip." DCA\NCA and WAC will implement a gender responsive project to tackle solid waste problems by empowering women against the negative effects of Climate, while enhancing vulnerable women’s economic coping capacity via receiving cash from the recycling of plastic to cover their basic needs.  

WAC is seeking a consultant to provide guidance to the project staff regarding compliance and management of solid waste within Solid Waste Management project funded by the DCA/NCA as follows:

Vacant Position: Project Consultant – (Part-time)

Location: Gaza Strip

Contract Duration: 7 Months 

Expected Starting date: ASAP

Scope of Work:

  1. Support developing TOR of climate change consultant to conduct an in-depth analytical study on solid waste management in the Gaza Strip; 
  2. Develop materials and related instruction manuals. 
  3. Support development of the selection criteria for pioneering female leaders to manage the related project of plastic recycling. 
  4. Contribute to setting up specifications related to the crushing machine and all related accessories.
  5. Support the Project Coordinator in managing the Solid Waste Management project by applying procedures ensuring that project is well monitored, delivered on-time and within budget.
  6. Act as technical expert providing input in to the solid waste management project.
  7. Tracking the value chain of the solid waste management process.
  8. Researching waste management practices

Requirements:

  1. A Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science/ Environmental Engineering/Solid Waste Management. 
  2. A PhD would be an added value.
  3. At least 10 years of professional experience in the area of solid waste management.
