PNGO published a new analytical study entitled: "Between Marginalization and Challenge: The Shrinking Civic Space and Its Impact on Youth and Women’s Organizations"

The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO) has published a new analytical study entitled: "Between Marginalization and Challenge: The Shrinking Civic Space and Its Impact on Youth and Women’s Organizations", amid mounting pressures on Palestinian civil society, particularly youth and women-led organizations.

The study aims to analyze the root causes and dimensions of the shrinking civic space in the occupied Palestinian territory, and to assess its impact on public freedoms and the effectiveness of civil society organizations in carrying out their social and rights-based roles. It offers a practical roadmap grounded in legal, political, and social analysis to restore civic space, strengthen resilience, and promote inclusive leadership.

The findings reveal a concerning contraction of civic space caused by occupation policies, repressive legislation, internal political fragmentation, and increasing restrictions on funding and digital freedoms. The study highlights the limited participation of youth and women in decision-making positions and a gap between CSOs’ public discourse and their actual internal democratic practices. It calls for legal reform, collective action against politically conditioned funding, and accountability for digital suppression of Palestinian voices.
