Site Engineer
The Palestinian Al Nakheel Association for Progress and Development (Al Nakheel) is an independent NGO, Established in Khan Younis in 1998, the Association works across Food Security, WASH, Shelter & Non-Food Items, and Agricultural Development, serving vulnerable communities across the Gaza Strip
Al Nakheel is looking for candidates for the following position - Site Engineer (SE)
Job Title: Site Engineer
Location: Al Nakheel office - Khan Younis
Contract Type: 10 months – Full time.
Application Deadline: 20 August 2025
Starting Date: As Soon As Possible.
She/he will be reporting directly to Project Coordinator (PC)
Project Overview:
In partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Al Nakheel is implementing project " Emergency Shelter and Livelihoods Support to Vulnerable and Crisis-Affected Households in Gaza” project, funded by Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), The project will provide emergency shelter support, including basic Emergency Shelter Kits (ESKs), tarpaulins, and Cash-for-Work (CfW) opportunities for workers, to address their needs and support the achievement of the project objectives
- Conflict-affected families meet their immediate, emergency shelter needs.
- Conflict-affected families in Gaza meet their basic needs.
Project Targeted Area: Middle Area, Khan Younis and Rafah, and subject to changed security context
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct social and technical assessments for potential beneficiary households.
- Lead consultations with households to identify and prioritize shelter needs.
- Carry out regular field visits to project sites to ensure quality implementation.
- Maintain accurate and updated records for all assigned duties.
- Assist in the ongoing collection and analysis of project monitoring data.
- Participate in delivering orientation sessions for beneficiaries.
- Liaise effectively with NGOs, clients, and subcontractors involved in the project.
- Support the Project Coordinator and Al Nakheel management with other project-related tasks as required.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian programs within NGOs, particularly in shelter engineering.
- Proven ability to work directly with communities, ensuring active participation—especially of women.
- Strong program reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
- Strong diplomacy, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to gender sensitivity and equal opportunities.
- Excellent communication and cross-cultural management skills.
- Fluency in Arabic; English proficiency is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and GIS applications.
- Proficiency in database management (Excel).
