The Community Development and Media Center condemns the continued systematic Israeli targeting of journalists in the Gaza Strip

The Community Development and Media Center condemns the continued systematic Israeli targeting of journalists in the Gaza Strip, where six (6) journalists, including one female journalist, were killed today, August 25, 2025. This brings the total number of journalists who have been killed in Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli aggression to 244 journalists, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza. In addition, more than 665 members of journalists’ families have also been killed, in a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which criminalizes the targeting of journalists and considers it a war crime.

The Community Development and Media Center calls for urgent measures to stop this systematic targeting of journalists, including:

  • The provision of urgent international protection for journalists in the Gaza Strip.
  • The opening of an independent international investigation into the killing of journalists and the targeting of their families.
  • The immediate entry of international journalists into Gaza to cover the crimes and violations committed against civilians.
  • Holding Israel accountable for its violations against freedom of the press and media.

Protecting journalists in Gaza is a humanitarian, legal, and moral responsibility that lies with the international community. Any failure in this regard encourages the continuation of the policy of impunity consistently benefited from by the occupation authorities.
