PNGO's Agricultural Sector condemns Israeli Occupation's crimes against Palestinian fishermen, calls for international intervention

The Agricultural Sector of the Palestinian NGO's Network (PNGO)  strongly condemns the crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation's naval forces against the Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip.

The Agricultural Sector recalls the Israeli occupation's naval force attack committed last Monday against the Palestinian fisherman Mohamed Bakr after he was attacked and arrested together with 6 other fishermen. In addition, the Israeli occupation's navy repeatedly shot off the shores of northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

The Agriculture Sector affirms its support to the fishermen and their just rights, demands, and steadfastness to confront the occupation's violations.

PNGO warns against any further attacks on fishermen by the Israeli occupation, and the resulted implications on the fishing sector in the Gaza Strip.

PNGO considers the Occupation's practices and restrictions against the Palestinian fishermen and fishing sector as a step towards tightening the long-standing blockade on the Gaza Strip as well as deepening the humanitarian crisis being endured by the Palestinian people.

The Agricultural Sector accordingly calls upon the international community and various international organizations to take urgent action to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for the violations it persistently commits against fishermen's rights off Gaza coast and calls to protect the fishermen and expand the fishing zone. It also stresses the need to show all forms of support to the Palestinian fishermen, and calls to provide decent living for the fishermen and the prisoners, considering that the fishing sector is the source of food security in the Gaza Strip.
