Value Chain Coordinator


UAWC in partnership with Oxfam is implementing a program “Integrated Market Development Program”. The Program consists of three outcomes to implement in four years interventions that are planned to directly benefit 9250 small-scale producers (SSPs) in the targeted value chains (VCs). It will also facilitate systematic improvements in production, processing, and marketing systems of the targeted VCs, thereby indirectly benefiting an at least 20,000-25,000 additional SSPs (around a fifth of those involved in the agricultural sector) in above targeted areas. The overall goal is to contribute to resilient, sustainable, and equitable agricultural growth


Within the  above mentioned project UAWC  declares the need to fill a position  for value chain coordinator   according the following information's and requirements


Job title: Value Chain Coordinator

Based on Gaza


Position Type and Duration: Full time, one year contract (renewable)


Directly Reporting to: Program Manager.


The Value Chain Coordinator will be responsible for the value chain strategic/tactical planning and will serve as the key technical lead for the project. S/he will bring technical experience to work with the private sector and supporting for promoted Business/Market linkages. S/he will manage to support the business and marketing planning for women and the small scale producers besides working with agro-processors building their capacities and developing Business/Market linkages.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 




  • Day to day management of the program.

  • Supervise and provide oversight and direction for the program technical team.

  • Lead design and implement market systems ‘intervention strategies’ that effectively address production, processing, and marketing bottlenecks in the selected value chains. Including the detailed plan and budget for implementation strategy.

  • Work with different key market players to design market systems intervention strategies that will upgrade the selected value chains.

  • Technical supervision of annual work plan process and development of program activities.

  • Provide technical leadership for the design, formalization, and management of private sector partnerships (PPPs). Identify, assess, and recommend potential private sector partners and partnership opportunities.

  • Coordinate and collaborate with local partners including private enterprises, NGOs, and CBOs working on agricultural development and with the government officials. This includes to provide the local partners with technical guidance and capacity building services.

  • Coordinate with the local accelerator in supporting promising investment plans and high growth prospects for start-ups in the agriculture sector.

  • Provide technical input into quarterly and annual reports.

  • Ensure staff are providing required input into the monitoring and evaluation system.

  • Coordinate with other implementing agencies to leverage project resources and to avoid duplication of efforts.


 

Essential Experience: 




  • Minimum five years of experience managing or advising private sector, value chain, or business development projects using the value chain or market system development approach.

  • Experience conducting value chain assessments and determining appropriate interventions to enhance agricultural productivity and market access for the poor farmers.

  • Experience in developing programs aimed at upgrading agricultural value chains through enhanced private sector engagement.

  • Experience in developing PPPs and other private sector alliances.

  • Experience in developing and managing agricultural training courses and events, especially capacity building activities in support of local agriculturally focused CBOs and cooperatives.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills in English.

  • Gender awareness and gender sensitive in conservative contexts.

  • Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team or independently and meet deadlines consistently.

  • Education: At minimum a Bachelor's degree in relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
