Position Title: Researcher/ community analyst

Location:the Gaza Strip

Report to:Project Coordinator/ Team Leader

Duration: Time Based Contract

Background: MA’AN is an independent Palestinian development and training institution established in January, 1989, registered by law as a non-profit organization. The main office is located in Ramallah and the other branch offices are located in Gaza, and Jenin. MA’AN's work is informed by the necessity of creating independent, self-reliant initiatives that lead to the development of human resources for sustainable development, which incorporate values of self-sufficiency and self-empowerment.


MA’AN is applying for the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) addressing the development of the vulnerable communities through accountable municipal services in the Gaza Strip. As part of the preparations for the technical offer, MA’AN seeks to select a project team who will be in charge of the project implementation. In the current stage, MA’AN will use the selected resumes for supporting the technical offer.


The selected applicants will be contracted once MA’AN is awarded the project’s fund.


Job Summary and key responsibilities


The researcher will be responsible for conducting researches and working plans for the project thematic (civic participation, social accountability and gender sensitivity). The main roles of the researcher will include; developing the research methodologies and tools, conducting field researches, performing quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysing and preparing the final reports to reflect the findings.




Job Requir



  1. Master degree in Social Sciences, development studies, Public Policy or any related fields with supervised academic thesis work.

  2. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in conducting researches, need assessment, and community studies.

  3. Deep Knowledge of research methodologies and techniques.

  4. Previous experience and familiarity with municipal and infrastructure projects is required.

  5. Strong analytical, communication, reporting and human resources management skills, as well as solid mediating and consensus building skills.

  6. Familiar with the Palestinian culture, traditions and values
