Nutritionist /Dietitian

Introduction:
Ahli Arab Hospital (AAH) is a local health organization not for profit, providing health care for  all  Gaza  residents.  Further ,  AAH implements several health projects to support marginalized communities in particular women and children. AAH  operates according to principles of strict neutrality, political and religious impartiality, and non-discrimination.

Ahli Arab Hospital is seeking a qualified professional  Nutritionist/Dietitian specialized in nutrition, includes prevention of malnutrition, diseases related to nutrient deficiencies and the science of nutrition. To fill the position of a part time Nutritionist /Dietitian  for a DCA/NCA funded project spanning a total of 9 months period.

Key responsibilities for this position will be as follows:

• Assess patients nutritional status, needs, nutrient provided for benefited children who are attending the project at Ahli Arab hospital. Diet restrictions and current management plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.


• Hold an out patients dietetic clinic three days a week for hospital and referred patient and treat patients who require a dietetic management.


• Hold at least another two days for nutrition awareness in the community as requested by Ahli Arab Hospital.


• Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of the child.


• Build capacity of patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modification, and food selection and preparation.


• To keep records and Data Base for all patients seen by the Nutritionist.

Tasks:

• Hold a special training courses for nursing and medical staff, in all dietetic areas relevant to nutrition as well as education session for patients, their families and community members.


• Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.


• Develop policies for food service or nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control & prevention.


• To nutritionally evaluate food menus for the patients and changing them as necessary.


• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting about the malnourish children project, challenges, improvement and progress done during the month.


• Cooperate with colleagues e.g. nutritionist , pediatricians and administration staff etc.


• Ensure that AAH Rules and Regulations, policies and procedures are followed.


• Perform other duties as assigned by the hospital Director General.

Job Requirements:

• Master Degree in Clinical Nutrition/Dietitian or equivalent degree from recognized university.


• 3-5 years of related Nutrition/Dietitian experience.


• Ability to write professional reports in English. -Good in computer skills.


• Ability to handle multiple assignments, meet deadlines and work under pressure.


• Nutritionist/Dietitian will be responsible for answering any complaints concerning the project.


• Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic.

Nature of contract:

• Part time job


• The period is 9 months


• 5 days a week
