PNGO published a Fact sheet on the temporary employment / job creation programs

Fact sheet on the temporary employment / job creation programs in the Gaza Strip issued by Palestinian NGOs Network  PNGO.

PNGO called for a comprehensive review of the temporary employment/job creation programs in the Gaza Strip. The call aimed to ensure that job creation projects are linked to an enabling development framework for the target groups and employers in order to alleviate unemployment and poverty and promote economic growth.

The fact sheet shed the light on the importance of re-design the job creation programs to respond to the needs of the labour market and the young people and graduates. It also required more cooperation among actors since the absence of regulated policies, weak coordination and the lack involving civil society organizations, the private sector and some important productive sectors in planning process were among the contributors to the weakness of these programs.

PNGO made some recommendations in the fact sheet to maximize the benefits from the temporary employment programs, to invest in development programs aimed at empowering the Palestinian society economically and socially to reach self-reliance in all sectors and not only funding for responding to emergencies.
