OIC's office for the coordination of humanitarian work provides relief aid to thousands of citizens in the Gaza Strip.

in the framework of the OIC's efforts in the holy month of Ramadan every year, the organization's office for the coordination of humanitarian work has carried out many humanitarian activities and events in the five provinces in the Gaza Strip in partnership with several humanitarian organizations.


The organization's office for the coordination of humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip has worked on distributing thousands of food parcels and organizing central Iftars in the five provinces for thousands of orphan children, widows and the needy, and with a generous funding from TURKİYE DİYANET Foundation, The International Islamic Relief Organization in Saudi Arabia, AL KHAIR Foundation in the UK, Malaysian Consultative Council - MAPIM and the Indonesian organization DEWAN DA'WAH.


The activities and projects aimed at helping the most needy families in an attempt to to provide the basic requirements and alleviate their suffering during the month of Ramadan under the difficult economic conditions and high unemployment which reached 43% rates, in addition to the poverty rates that exceeds 65% while 85% of Gaza's population is dependent on aid provided by international humanitarian organizations as 6 out of 10 families in the Gaza Strip suffer from food insecurity.


Distribution of food parcels process was based on a number of professional standards by which to choose the beneficiary families, and the most important standards are the rate of poverty, unemployment, the number of family members and the population density in marginalized areas and the state of displacement as a result of the recent aggression in 2014. The selection criteria also included people with disabilities, people with chronic diseases, families of orphans and female-headed households.


Ramadan projects are considered as one of the seasonal projects undertaken by the OIC's office for the coordination of humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip annually, and it comes within the intensive efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in all critical areas to alleviate the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip.
