The Child Protection Team at MA’AN Development Center continues to conduct a series of specialized trainings aimed at strengthening the capacities of community committees, volunteers, protection workers, and humanitarian actors across different areas of the Gaza Strip. These trainings are implemented as part of the project “Protecting Children from Violence in Palestine: Strengthening Inclusive, Responsive, and Resilient Child Protection and Justice Systems across Humanitarian and Early Recovery Contexts in the Gaza Strip,” funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The trainings aim to strengthen participants’ capacities to identify child protection threats at an early stage, identify children at risk, understand the principles of safe identification, and apply appropriate referral mechanisms to specialized service providers. This contributes to ensuring that children and families have timely access to protection and support services.

The trainings included interactive sessions covering child protection concepts, indicators of protection risks, referral pathways and mechanisms, and the roles and responsibilities of community committees, workers, and volunteers. Practical scenarios were also used to strengthen participants’ skills in identifying and responding to protection risks in a safe and child-sensitive manner.

These trainings are part of MA’AN Development Center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community-based protection systems in the Gaza Strip and enhance the readiness of workers, volunteers, and community committees to identify and respond to protection risks. These efforts contribute to creating safer and more protective environments for children and families affected by the current humanitarian situation.
