PNGO condemns Gaza Security Service’s attacks against peaceful demonstrators and demands respect for public freedoms



The Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO) strongly denounces Security Services attacks against the participants in the peaceful protests broke out in all governorates of the Gaza Strip.


PNGO remains deeply concerned about Security Forces’ excessive use of force to disperse demonstrators, raiding a number of citizens' homes, as well as the grave assault on the Director of the Independent Commission of Human Rights (ICHR), lawyer Jamil Sarhan, and ICHR’s Lawyer Baker al-Turkmani and the arrest of a number of journalists and citizens.


PNGO stresses that the suppression of demonstrations and attacks on peaceful participants is a flagrant violation of the principles of human rights and public freedoms, primarily the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of opinion and expression, and




  1. Calls for immediate cessation of the attacks on demonstrators and demands that the right to demonstrate to be guaranteed.

  2. Calls to investigate into the attacks on citizens, human rights activists and journalists.

  3. Demands assurances that such attacks would not be repeated and calls to hold a dialogue with the demonstrators and to take their demands seriously.


PNGO considers that achieving reconciliation and ending the internal division is an approach to solve the crises and problems in the Gaza Strip
