PNGO Calls for Following Emergency Procedures, Joining Efforts and Postponing Activities Due to the outbreak of Corona virus COVID-19

The Palestinian NGO Network (PNGO) calls for people to oblige to the state of emergency issued by the presidential decree and the measures announced by the Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh.

This came during a meeting held by PNGO today in its headquarters in Gaza City with the participation of civil, human rights, and health organizations representatives to discuss the developments of the Coronavirus and the control measure to limit its spreading.

In the same context, PNGO calls for uniting all efforts to confront the Coronavirus by forming a national committee with various governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as concerned health and human rights organisations to follow up on all matters related to the problem.

Furthermore, PNGO stresses that all civil organizations and national bodies postpone the implementation of all mass activities and events such as workshops, conferences and extended meetings until further notice and emphasises the need to take the necessary measures to raise public awareness and education about the repercussions of the virus infection while asking to follow the safety measures available.

The network values the importance of the role of human rights organizations in monitoring the conditions of those who are being held in quarantine and those in places of detention, such as prisons and jails.

Similarly, PNGO appeals to funding agencies to provide the necessary support to fight the Coronavirus. The media calls for directing efforts to educate the public about the procedures to be followed to tackle the Coronavirus.

Also, PNGO calls all parties to respect the citizen's right to obtain information, to work to publish accurate information, to seek to obtain information from reliable sources and to respect citizen privacy in cases that are being held in quarantine.
